Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
