Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Wins Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Accolades.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.
The 27-year-old secured four tournament victories – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.
A Year of High Performance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Historic Statistics
Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and collected a historic £11m in earnings.
She received almost 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a greater prominence".
