'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Loved Ones of Missing Young People Await Answers After Ski Resort Fire

The loved ones of teens missing after a tragic blaze at a bar in a Switzerland's ski resort are enduring an excruciating period of uncertainty for confirmed information and pleading for clues about their family members via social media.

The inferno engulfed the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of New Year's Day. Circulated footage show the roof structure being engulfed in flames as beverages with sparklers are held aloft.

Emergency services have warned that it could take considerable time to formally name the fatalities of the fire, which claimed the lives of four dozen individuals and hurt another over a hundred. Officials said on Friday that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with work still underway to name the remaining few.

In the waiting period, families and friends have been taking to social media to appeal for any news about their missing relatives who were present at the venue that night.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Missing

The location of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are currently unknown, according to an public plea from his parent.

The resident of Lutry near the city, explained to a publication that she had returned to Lausanne to see if he was in the medical facility, while his other parent did the equivalent search in Bern, but did not locate him.

"This is a living nightmare, a horror. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. Words cannot describe it," she told the paper.

She explained that some of his companions had been located with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they endured an absolute nightmare."

The Italian foreign ministry has confirmed that a number of of its young people remain missing.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last in contact around the turn of the new year on New Year's Eve, according to.

One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage junior golfer, originally from Genoa but now living in the UAE.

The national sporting body has said that he is dead, without mentioning the fire, paying tribute to a "talented young man who represented dedication and true sportsmanship."

His parent, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around the new year. An official spokesperson has clarified that a official announcement of his death is not yet.

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is likewise among the missing. His mother said that he had been on holiday but had gone out with friends and found himself at the bar.

"A close friend informed me they fled after the fire started and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he couldn't see him anymore," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his educators said, "I remember his good nature and smile, combined with great responsibility. He would frequently offer to get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to reports.

Her sibling has published an appeal online, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her other nation say they are actively engaged with the case.
