19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from March of 2023.

Victory also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on court had caused some to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional title, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet defended four early chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
