Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
